Wow. I've been reading this occasionally, but this is damn good...will Lucius be making another appearance? Something more than as an observing relative? Just one little note: 'Shuttered' refers to a window covered by a protective barrier, usually of wooden planks and often decorative. 'Shuddered' refers to a trembling spasm of the body in either pleasure or horror.
