Wonderful chapter, I think this is one of the best characterizations of a grieving Lucius that I have read. I have never suffered personal loss on the same level, but your depiction seems to be very accurate from what I have read and observed in others.

Something I would like to see more of, if it fits within your framework, is how Lucius' soul affects Hermione. You mentioned her taste for coffee and her reflexes. It would be interesting to see how far the effects go.

Voldemort was absolutely chilling at the end of this chapter. Sometimes he seems like a menace that will inevitable be beaten, but your Voldemort is disconcertingly in control of the situation.

I am anxiously awaiting the next chapter!

OMG!!!! Voldybutt is sooooo evil. I wonder what he has in store for Lucius? Will he be able to find Hermione's parents? Will Dudly escape, maybe find his way to Harry's side and help in the fight somehow?
I felt so bad for Lucius' despair, he can't help but feel guilty.
Can't wait for more.
