Wow, that are fantastic news! A big WELCOME BACK to you, Ms_Figg!!!
I'm very exited that you will continue Yuleride - it's my favourit of the unfinished ones.
And the manner you did your come-back - hilarious. You made my night!

Hnnnn...
And here I was being so proud of you for moving on to bigger and better things!
Ah well... I can't really complain, I do love your stories. I've read most of them, and I can't exactly say that I don't want another.
I mean, even when I thought they might be getting a little repetitive I still read them (your smut, after all, is consistently fantastic and the rest, at least, is consistently well written). Though, I have to admit, I eventually had to start skipping the "Hermione, you should have sex with me for these, very logical seeming, reasons" Snape speech. After a few stories it got to be a little much.
And I'm not trying to say that you got unoriginal later on, if anything you got more original in your story lines, but I feel like your Hermione and Snape are always the same. Even when you write them differently, they're still the same. They all have a very... figgish flavor that you can't find anywhere else. And I'm not sure that's something you can escape. I think it's just you. I'm not sure how noticeable it would be (because all good authors have a distinctive style), except for that fact that you've kind of "saturated the market", as it were.
Please don't get me wrong, I do love your stories, but one can have too much of a good thing (and yes, I know I don't have to read them, obviously, but frankly, if it's you, I don't think I can help myself - unless it's a premise I dislike). I felt pretty good about your announcement that you were giving up SS/HG (at least for a time), and now that your back, I feel... I dunno... a little disappointed? Maybe I'd wanted the break to be a little longer?
It's just that, I know I've going to read your new stories, and I know they'll be original (as much as they can be), and I know I'll like them, but I also know they won't feel fresh, and that I won't love them as much as they deserved to be loved.
This is becoming very long and rambley (and I know no one else is going to agree with me, and some people might jump to your rescue to insult/argue with me), but you've gone through the trouble of actually making these big announcements, so I thought it'd be alright for me to make a response.
Obviously, you can do whatever you like, and obviously you'll have plenty of readers who love you for it, but I just felt like stating my opinion on the whole matter (which, frankly, I don't think I would have done if not for your big giant announcement and then counter-announcement).
I wonder what would have happened if you'd come back under a different penname? (though I suppose you couldn't exactly finish your other stories that way) How long would it have taken for us to figure it out? We would have suspected, certainly, but no one would have known. Now that would have been really interesting.
