Hermione has, in the past, been very good at breaking into Snape's place and stealing his stuff....

I've never heard of that story, but it's a point, of course. Snape doesn't think that Harry may be staying away out of consideration for him - even though he told him to.

Two Britpicks here. "Honey" is a very unusual endearment in Britian - afaik I've only heard it used here twice in my life, both times by working-class Scots. The British equivalent would be pet or sweetheart or sweetie. And we normally say shop, not store, except in the case of department stores, convenience stores and DIY stores the size of aircraft hangars. And even in those, you would walk across the shop, not the store.

You really made my day again. We finally get to the comfort part of this hurt/comfort story and it's just as perfect as all the previous chapters. The scene when Hermione sits on the bed beside Severus and rubs his back is so sweet. Not overdone and they are both so much in-character, just wonderful.
I'm curious to see the confrontation with Harry, but I also wonder about something else. Some chapters ago I started to think that Neville may very well suffer from unrequitted love, but not to Luna anymore. Is he in love with Snape? Ok, I know that probably sounds a bit bizarre, but is he? The risks he took to get Snape out of "The Dust's" clutches (e.g. the stunt with the polyjuice) were rather high. And his recent reaction, the way he tries to keep in touch with Snape. Well, I can't help but wonder. Oh, and of course I'm very curious to see how Harry, Ginny and their son are doing.
You got me hopelessly hooked on that story. I hope for many more updates.

o.O I know that story! I read it in elementary school! It was a funny and sad story but I like that in the end they were still happy =P I hope that happens for Harry and Severus as well.

Oh my gosh. I'm gonna cry, after all this time. :( I'm leaving late tonight to be away from my computer for several days. And NOW you decide to bring Harry back into the picture. My luck, I suppose. But I'm certainly glad that we've gotten to this point finally. Of course, I say that now, but I have no idea if this is a good or bad thing. I had the hugest grin on my face when I read that Hermione would have another meaning behind the comb, remembering immediately the story. I'm glad that Severus can at least now think that Harry is also suffering. That ending was priceless, as Hermione judged Severus's every action. I'll look forward to more upon my return.

@Moments of mercy. Gasp....that was so painful to hear. Severus cracing those rare moments. How awful for him....I LOVE Hugo in this tale...he's so needed and I'm glad he's bringing light into all of their lives...Severus with his stubbon, solitary ways. Thank goodness for Hermione as well. in fact, I love how you're treating all of the *side* characters in a way that it underscores the importance of having family and connections to others....I wonder how they will deal with this unpleasant aspect of the bond?

@Guest Room....aww., poor Neville. he really has been through some shit, no? I'm still a little mad at harry, even though I know it was really dust, that torture/rape thing still makes me shudder. I agree with Ron that Neville saved George when he did what he did, but at what price? I'm glad that Severus heard all of that. Maybe he could reach out to Neville or at least began to work on his own healing by talking about what happened with him? I'm so glad hermione honored her word and didn't say anything, Neville as well. It's gonna be a long road to recovery for all of them : (

@guises of the mind. OH GOD. How do you do this....you sink me right down in the depths of despair and misery along with Severus. What suffering! And to think that he can actually rationalize every bit of it, whether out of regret, remorse, guilt, or the obligation to 'please' his Master, it's all so terribly romantic and just plain terrible at once. No one deserves to live like this! I hope Harry seeks him out...and forget Ginny, please DISRUPT!

@Gifts. YES! Ingenious Hermione comes through again. LOVED the gift, the story....I vaguely remember it...how haunting. And I love that Hermione knew he was coming over and that Snape always had access to their wards. I also loved Hugo playing with Severus's wand way before the age he should be handling one..he's gonna be a real smart one..and that he offered it back, what a sweet child. I wonder where Harry works...very far away? Can't wait to see what happens when Severus shows up to see him!!! Update soon : )

I find it rather interesting that Severus is accusing Harry of having not been really in love with him, simply because Harry didn't chase after him, and instead paid him his due respects and stayed away. It very well maybe attributed to Severus's state of mind, but yes of course if Harry was "Madly" in love, he would have chased after Severus (which at that time would have gotten Snape upset), but that doesn't mean that Harry didn't or doesn't love him equally if not more than someone who IS madly in love. It is too bad Severus, understandably, wouldn't listen to what Hermione had to say of Harry, although it probably would have done well to listen. Interesting again, and I look forward to more. Although I hope we reach rock bottom soon, so we can start an upclimb. I'm beginning to think that this is a bottomless well.
