Orginal Review
Aw, I wanna see where that leads. Nuts. Well those were a good two chapters. I just love Hugo and how brilliant and grown up he seems while still being such a kid. It's just adorable. I want to hug and little guy and I hate kids. I can't believe Hermione would let him play with that puzzle either, but then again, if he's smart enough to have never been bitten, I can see her not worrying too.
I love Harry dealing with the cockatrice. That's just... perfectly done. I love his reasoning as well. It's so simple and logical, but animalistic at the same time. It's excellent. I also love the termoil you have inside Sev when he kneels and puts his head in Harry's lap. I love the tension it causes.
Edit
Sorry to delete my comment, but I just realized that I never commented before. I totally fogot I saved this before going on vacation so I could read it while I was gone. I don't even know what to say now. I absolutely love this story. I love the characters, the emotional rollercoaster, the tension, everything. I even love how terrible and gruesome the first part was where Harry was filled with dust. That was a brilliant idea by the way. I particularly love Neville and the changes and backbone he has in this. I love how he lied to protect Severus and get him away from Harry. This story is just brilliant. It's so entertaining to read. I can't wait for more.

I LOVE the way Harry showed not only the cockatrice but Severus his willingness to give up control and power in order to be on equal footing with both of them. While Harry will always be in control because of the bond, he's willing to make sure that it doesn't impede on his relationship with Sev. I LOVE Sev kneeling at the end, and I think the reason why he felt like he finally could was because Harry showed him that it was safe. I hope this means that they've reached a new level in their relationship and can really start being totally authentic around each other. Brilliant chapter Em!

Harry is showing signs of being a very good manager here - which is appropriate, because he was already devloping that way in canon, by the way he handled Kreacher. I predict that at some point Harry will have to break the covenant in order to trace Snape to save him from some danger, and Neville will appear like an avenging fury and then join in the rescue once Harry has calmed him down - am I right?
Btw, something slightly odd seems to have happened to your upload - it's got "20" appearing in random places.

Chap 53
Emily - I love these chapters, I love your writing, and I love this story. Yeah I know, I'm crap at reviewing, but I look forward to every new chapter of your stories, whenever they arrive. The covenent and Neville's meeting are a huge relief, even if it's only part way along to actual contentment. It's like being perched at the start of something new with no actual promise of how much better they are going to get, even though the last lines imply that they might be the start of something good.
Re: your livejournal post, wow, please don't delete anything. Take a break or give an intermedite final chapter and resume when you feel like it. What did you have in mind for a final outcome anyway? I know you thought about a disaster in the next few chapters followed by some sort of breakthrough or bigger disaster (I couldn't predict which), but were they ever going to get over all the trauma? Were they ever going to be anything but damaged? Isn't a happy ending what you rejected when you rewrote chapter 45? I don't remember you promising a happy ending. As much I want them to be happy - because they so deserve it, you've made them intriguingly damaged and flawed, never mind fragments Voldemort: they have fragments of their own shattered innocence mixed in with horrible circumstance, bad choices, and attempts at redemption. This is very strong fiction. You should be flattered that it generates a wide range of opinion, but you should still blow off the nay-sayers. I actaully don't see that many negative reveiws, more just people being passionate about what they hoped would happen and arguing to push it there. But if you're not enjoying the story, then please take a break. Or fast forward to when they're dead and blissful! Yeah, I love your UST and their forays into the mild sex, but I never did see them anything but guardedly able to provide each other "moments" of contentment in between daily struggles and labor to keep their minds busy while waiting for end game.

I like seeing them expressing affection, even the hand holding and closeness of their bodies in a non sexual context is really beautiful to watch. They're finally making it over that awful part of their past and growing closer. I'm glad that Snape is letting his guard down. Hugo cracks me up and he's really good for both of them. I'm a little worried about Al, can't wait to see what's going on with him and I'm looking forward to see how the Convenant changes them if at all. I'm happy Neville came by and is coming back into the fold sorta...it almost feels like old times before the darkness took over. They all deserve a little peace. Great update Em.

This story is so incredibly sad. I don't know why, but I seem to be drawn to sad stories. I would like to know a little more of what is going on in Harry's head. I'm very curious to know what he's feeling. The story is lovely so far, I do hope to see more soon. Ta!

A promise...
A promise can be such a wonderful thing, it brings hopes and dreams and can even make one feel youthful and content. However when a promise if broken the heart ache makes one wish that the promise had never been uttered in the first place. I find promises scarry but in this case it does seem like a good thing.
I would like to hear more about the cockatrice, it is nice that they have this project in common, that gives them something to do other than thinking obsessively about the bond.
Will we get to see Albus at some point? Is he really afraid of Harry or is this in Harry's head? Sometimes adults have conversations around children that are overheard and we know there is a lot of things Harry did that were scarry. I do hope that his relationship with his kid get better over time.
