It's not a relief, a liberation, it's a denial, it's turning your back on people and on your own self.
For me, the "net below" stands for this self-respect that keeps us from spitting at our own face for the ugly things we've done. His has rotten because he has let it withered. This can happen when you find yourself unable to forgive yourself for all those bad deeds, when you judge and condemn yourself for ever for what you've done.

Hmm.....interesting. I had thought that Severus' earlier taunting of Harry giving his permission for what he did to him was simply a psychological torture device, but now I'm not so sure. With a good lawyer he could possibly not be convicted. Grrrr! You've opened up a whole new can of worms here, making me wonder about whether or not this is all some sort of plan, either Voldemort's or Dumbledore's,....a means to an end.....aarrrgghh! Update! Immediately! You're making me crazy!

Of course I knew that was going on! Like they would really spare him...It does piss me off that Ron makes Harry's torture seem like nothing! I do feel bad for them both because here Ron thought that he was protecting Harry all this time and Harry did too only to crack at the end. The sadness....I cant wait for another chapter!

What a fitting title for this chapter. (11) It's a shame that Ron makes so little of Harry's torture, it's almost as if he doesn't understand, or refuses to ascknowledge, that Harry was tortured too, in the name of sparing Ron. Makes me wonder if Ron was told that, in the end, Harry begged for it to be Ron, for himself to be spared any further punishment. Update soon.
