I really like this story and it has an interesting concept but I have a minor criticism and please don't read this as a flame, as that is not my intention at all.
I'm not really keen on the rather long narrative over the last chapter or your tendency to soliloquise. I know that you are simply trying to 'set the scene' but there are better and more subtle and effective ways of doing this.
