Not liking the way SS came in and told her that he could take them any time he wanted. She needs to get back in control of her kids. I would have told him that if he could not follow my wishes until I felt comfortable with him around them, I would take them and he would never see any of them again. And then he takes of with the child after drinking...nice. She is obviously still intimidated by him and so shrinks back when he is agressive. p

I'm really enjoying your story, but |I think you really need someone to beta your dialogue. You seem to use the word 'For' a bit too much. Eg. For I will have to take them both. Instead, I'll have to take the two of them. (it sounds more natural.) If ya need anything at all, let me know and I'd be delighted to give you some imput.
