I don't think you need to explain your Severus. I try and write mine mean but it never works because deep down he's all heart isn't he. No point when he's not really mean, I say! He will be a pussy cat when I've finished with him.

Great story - keep going where it takes you because its working.

Firs of all wonderful Chapter !!! I strongly like this Severus tough and sensitive. I mean why shouldnt a guy be able to be both?
As for your theory i whole-heartedly agree with you.
He was never given the chance to really grow up to be the person he could have been. The one person he loved shoved him away because of a word...a simple word. Friends dont do that. So since he was a boy he has been nothing but beaten and broken. He doesnt know what its like to be loved and to really love in return. He doesnt know what its like to be able to let go and fully trust someone..
