It deeply bothers me that this story is not complete :(

Read your intro and the first sentence and could already tell that you're a perceptive person, if not a gifted writer (can't tell, as I haven't actually READ any of your fic' yet). At any rate, BRB, going to read your story, and will probably return with copypasted excerpts of it with which to praise/demean you. :]

Excellent first chapter. I thought this bit was particularly insightful: "The novels one saw while waiting in line at the supermarket, the ones with florid covers depicting men of unlikely proportions and women half-naked were something else entirely. Romance novels were the opiate of bored housewives, who traded intellectual stimulation for domestic comforts and daytime television, who needed some condescendingly inane drivel to experience some small amount of excitement and passion, albeit vicariously." --and I adore the title, it's very clever (yeah, that's a comma splice, stfu). Back to reading the fic' and commenting on every other funny sentence, now.
