I'm feeling really bad for Ron. I hate it when that happens. *snort*
Poor Hermione. She had the right idea to cut and run, though.

Thanks for the update!

Can I just say one thing about canon Snape? It never seems to be mentioned, but I think it's really significant when imagining his appearance.
Certainly he is unattractive, but I doubt he is really (ignore for a moment that he is not real) as ugly as he is made out in the books, and I'll tell you why.
The books are from Harry's POV (I know it's not first person, but it's still seen, with a couple of exceptions, through his thoughts and eyes), and Harry HATES Snape. Of course he's going to be described in the worst possible way. I think that it's safe to assume that if the story is NOT seen in a third person limited Harry POV, that Snape could be described much more favorably (though still, perhaps, not exactly attractive), and still be in-cannon. He may have some rather nice features, but why would Harry notice those? Hermione might, and certainly Snape might (I say this because your stories, Ms. Figg, are almost always third person omniscient and rather impartial at that). So why not take advantage of this possibility, I say!
At any rate, it's perfectly fine to imagine Harry as totally fair when it comes to appearance and therefore write Snape exactly as he is described in the books. After all, I've said it before: I love me a canon Snape. I just felt like pointing this out.

Lucy: You know, I've always rather thought that Snape was the way JKR saw him as opposed to Harry. Normally I take the view you do of him, there is something attractive. I used to date a guy named Edwing, and he had been burned in the face when he was a child and occasionally it would bubble up here and there. Everyone always said he was ugly, but I never saw it. He had intense eyes, and lord knows what else. heh heh. I could've been blinded by lust though. lol. Actually, I became used to the way he looked. We were friends for a couple of years before we became more. There is always something attractive about someone if you look deep enough. But I am taking the darker route this time, making his looks as well as his actions an issue and trying to discover is it actually a real issue. In other words, having fun. Most readers seem to still like him, which I think is wonderful. Canon Snapes need love too. ***

PS: I've been studying this Snape quite a bit at:

So I have a kind of template for him rather than writing him strictly from imagination.
