The few months without her had been very difficult for him. He had expected for the spell to release him from the emotional feelings that he gained from her, but that hadn’t happened at all. To add to his confusion, he had expected for her to feel the same way, but she had seemed cold.
Hermione had gone pale, closed her eyes, and warred with several feelings. On one hand, she felt grateful that he had managed to create a way to locate Harry and Ron. She also felt relieved that they were safe, sickened that Mrs. Weasley had lost her big toe and that he had raided the tomb, and angry that she had been bested again. Eventually, she calmed enough to open her mouth to thank him, opened her eyes, and found herself alone in the room.
“Well, yes. After all, the dead are not only dead, but also gone, and I’m sure Mrs. Weasley didn’t need all of her toes and would likely have cut it off herself if she knew it would help her find Ron. I, uh… just needed a moment to process that information.”
(why the big toe rather than the little toe? Also surprised that snape knows a dark spell that tom doesnt)
“I’M NOT YOUR PATSY!” Hermione shouted, emphasizing her anger with her fists in front of her chest
“YOU ARE MY ONLY OPTION! YOU ARE MY MOST COMPETENT ALLY, AND YOU ARE MY ONLY REDEMPTION!”
It. No, not it. What? Boy? Girl? Was he sure? He. Snape. Potions Master Severus Snape, wizarding public enemy number two, was the father of her child.

“Are you… happy, Hermione?”
“I think so. I’m…” She hesitated, battling with her own fears and her mother’s demand that she trust Snape. “I… am sometimes afraid of…of—”
“Of me.” Snape finished for her. When she didn’t object, he sighed, looked at the ceiling, and then back at her. “I have to go. We’ll talk about this soon. I’ll be back.”
“Elaine. Trust me when I say that I am not right for Hermione. I’ve killed so many undeserving people and hurt so many allies that even after all of this war business is sorted out (given I survive), I will still have to face the Wizengamot. Should anything happen to me, Hermione will have all three of my estates, regardless of whether we separate or not, but if we remain together her name will be dragged through the mud. I can’t allow that.”
“The Order thinks you and Mr. Weasley are together?”
“The Order just assumes. Nobody pays attention enough to notice that we aren’t an item.”
“You each had a bit of Felix Felicies, so I can guarantee that you’ve not truly experienced battle.”
remember that the corners of rooms are the safest places to fight from and the doorways are the most dangerous locations in a building. The safest room in the house, without fail, is the bathroom. Very rarely will anybody be in the bathroom.”

Nice battle scene.
What do you mean, Jo was so bold with who she killed off? Not enough people died. Ron remained alive.

Brilliant trio prison scene :)
best lines:
“Forgive me Minister, for a moment I was under the false impression that we woke up from surviving a battle against Voldemort, and not only found ourselves in St. Mungos, but also in the prison ward without a window, a trial, or our wands. Surely, Minister, we must be forgetting the simplest things, such as the date, when you tell us. How unrelenting of you, sir, to tirelessly keep us informed during our free tenure here. Why, we have been practically childish and misunderstanding of your goodwill for us.”
“Even if we whisper?” Harry asked.
“What world have you two been living in?” Ron yelled. “These aren’t muggle spy contraptions! You can’t get past wards on your tippy-toes! We can’t just sit in here and whisper!”
Hermione’s curses were the fewest, but truly the most diverse. She had tried to petrify, slice, blast, wet, pull, bash, stun, and blind him
Scrimegeour could never be sure of what mood he would walk in on. Only one thing was consistent for him: Hermione’s anger.
“Not everything is about re-elections, Miss Granger.”
“Not to the average citizen, but to you—”
Hermione let out a bark of laughter and Ron’s own snort from trying to hold back his own guffaws were the start of laughter that lasted the rest of the time between Scrimageour leaving and coming back in what the trio was beginning to call a Scrimageour day. Even then, there was no calming the trio enough to talk to them, as they kept having fits of the giggles.
Penelope was called again and performed another oath, and in exchange for the very disappointing name of, “Sirius Black.” the trio was given daily newspapers.

“The ministry of magic kept you captive!”
“But that’s your government! How are you supposed to trust them to govern wisely if they invade your life when you are at your most vulnerable?”
“DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENED WHEN THE DARK LORD FOUND MY WAND AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS? HE TOOK ME TO THE DUNGEON OF MY OWN HOUSE AND STRAPPED ME TO A CHAIR FOR THREE DAYS WHILE HE BEAT ME AND CURSED ME. HE BROKE MY RIBS AND BROKE MY JAW AND SLICED MY CHEST OPEN AND DAMAGED MY EYE AND STRANGLED ME!"
“I know, I know.” She hefted herself up, feeling like a loose woman for the first time. She had just had sex with a man she was livid with.
How sad that she had to hate him. She had always admired his witty tongue and debonair appearance, and she only now realized just how unfortunate his poor upbringing was.
“Yeah…” Ron said with a small frown suddenly creasing his face. “I… uh… think I see a small flaw in our planning... What’s for breakfast?”
“That’s usually the easiest lookout post. The middle lookout is usually the hardest.”
“What do you mean? Are we supposed to trade off during the night?”
“Wow… eggs, porridge, croissants, and… is that a hare?”
“Well my mum’s hair is very long, it likely go—”
“No, I mean a rabbit.”
“You are officially renegades of wizarding law and will face many charges including but not limited to attempted kidnapping of a high official, battery of a high official, high treason, conspiracy to commit harm, and capital poisoning. It would be in your best interest to turn yourselves in to avoid a possibly fatal battle with the ministry’s best aurors and additional charges.
Ron hadn’t forgotten, “I can’t believe they called you Hermione Snape!” He laughed and Hermione’s pulse calmed a bit.
“Somewhere out there, Snape is getting a letter addressed to Severus Granger. I wish I could be there for that!”
It didn’t escape her attention that her patronus seemed to have changed

“I missed you.” It was a simple statement, but it meant the world coming from him. Tokens of affection were not common nor expected from Snape
“I can see options, but all of them will take careful consideration and discussion with Hermione and since I have not done that yet, I don’t feel comfortable bringing them up here for the first time.”
“Would you do to her what you did to Dumbledore?”
Hermione held her breath in embarrassment and he chuckled, “Breathe, love.” He didn’t even notice the affectionate term as it left his lips, but it was not missed by anyone else. “Never. For Hermione, I would die first.”
“Hermione Jean Snape.” Her mother explored the name and sighed. “My daughter is a married woman.”
“For the first time in my life—” he paused, and rephrased, “I’ve never been so closely affiliated with someone who feels just as upset as I do about the things I have to do to survive, someone who is working down the middle just like me…”
“Come back safe.”
“It won’t be long.”
“I don’t care about long nearly as much as safe.”
“Fill in the blank: You should not hex my balls off, because…” she said threateningly.
“Choose one of your parents to die first.”

“I am well fed, I get a satisfactory amount of sun by day, my cell is kept clean, and in another two months, I will be able to reach the window.”
“Why, Mr. Malfoy, you have a goal.” She said sarcastically
“Watch yourself, Lucius.” She warned, dropping her tone, “You tread on fine ground when you insult my parents.”
It was an intense family moment that they had never shared before, and as odd as it seemed, she was thankful for the danger they had experienced. She had always been close to her parents, but had never felt so good to be in their arms. She was still their baby girl and they were still her heroes.
She obviously did not realize how seductive her simple motions were
“What is the real problem?” She didn’t know what was wrong with him, but the pathetic excuse he was giving her was not reason enough for his anger. Something else was pushing him to this.
Hermione was a smart girl, that was indisputable, but her perception into human behaviour was unmatched and less widely known.
“When you put yourself in danger, that puts me in danger, which, in turn, puts the rest of our world in danger of being conquered by Voldemort, all because you could not control your emotions!”
“I should have known you couldn’t handle it. You’re just like your two idiot friends, and I should have known I couldn’t trust you to remain emotionally detached.”
“How could you believe that, Hermione? You want to know what stopped me? You stopped me! I can’t hurt you and I can’t tell if that’s the bond talking or… but I can’t hurt you.” His voice broke and he finally did step away from her. “You seem to be fully capable of hurting me, and you do so without concern!”
“Trust me, Hermione, but never trust me enough to love me.” Snape whispered tightly. “Besides, I am no good for you.”
