Hey, I don't think it's a problem that you've strayed from what you planned to be your main storyline--as a matter of fact, I don't see this as straying at all! It was an INTENSE chapter, but I noticed immediately--and liked, as he did--that Hermione went to him instinctively for protection. And now it's time for him to do her--will look for that in the next chapter--their first encounter...and great foreshadowing on there being something big that Voldemort wants to use her for in theend...makes me curious!!
