Excellent; Voldemort's chilling displeasure comes across really well. I liked that touch of '1984' as well - exposing the wrongdoers to their worst fears. Leaving them to starve to death in a broomcupboard - it's evil and sadistic, yet effortless.
I love how this is so closely tied in with the book as well; it feels very plausible. Poor old Draco; he's bitten off a lot more than he can chew.

Oops, you don't call Voldemort for no reason! I shudder to think how he's going to repay that indiscretion.
Bellatrix was wonderfully insane, rolling around on Voldemort's bedsheets and pouting because Narcissa wanted to sleep in her own bed. Narcissa is a bit of an unknown quantity, and you have made her a sympathetic character, which I like - it's unusual. Bellatrix was so mean to tell her about his part in the rape of her sister (mind you, it's not as if she's lying).
I'm excited (and a bit nervous) about the next chapter. I don't think Rowle and Dolohov will get off lightly.

Poor Andromeda (and Ted). It was interesting the way you revealed the ambivalences in each of the main Death Eaters' minds when it came to the rape scene. In fact, nobody was really getting anything out of it - Lucius and Snape were both just going along with it for appearance's sake, while Draco was visibly horrified. Only Bellatrix might have been getting a bit of voyeuristic thrill out of seeing her hated sister treated like that. On a lot of levels, the Death Eaters are not really being honest with themselves (even if it's only about their blood purity).
Hmmm, interesting.

Terrific chapter, creepy and menacing - and Snape in charge of the terror, yay!
ROFL - 'pretty fly for a white guy'. That's Lucius all right.
Still enjoying this a lot, and your own enjoyment of the writing really comes across. You've such a great eye for fine detail.
I'm glad you're finding time to keep updating...the big climactic celebration scene can't be too far off now!

Ah thank you for the compliment, it's nice to know I'm not deluding myself into thinking that I'm rather good at this...>.> Well I suppose that Bella could be rather vain, I can see how you'd get that vibe from the movies, considering that Helen bonham Carter does give off that type of energie. Regardless as another aspect of her personality I simply feel that she would regard Voldermort as a higher being than herself considering that her obsession goes to a most unhealthy level and I simply figure that she wouldn't have the time to be very vain, being too busy worrying about him. *Shrugs* Different realities, parallel universes I suppose!
Actually on that whole train bit well *grins*, all I needed to do was note the chapter title 'Brain Damage' and it basically told me everything I needed to know of what would come. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy your disturbing works. What can I say, I enjoy being disturbed lol.
The beginning of the chapter seemed to insinuate towards a rather perverse nature what with the Death Eaters on the couch together, or perhaps it is just my imagination.... I really felt that someone ought to have slapped that witch for calling Dumbldore 'Dumby'. To those who had known him it would be a great insult to have a foul creature like her use his name in what some would call a mockingly 'friendly' manner.
I have to say I really enjoyed how you coloured the Death Eaters here, making them so very cruel and malicious. The whole "Cursed to your deaths" was just lovely. I can't wait to read more.

This was an interesting chapter - I like that explanation for the taboo on Voldemort's name. Lots of good detail too - the hands on the clock, the way Tonks' hair changes colour. And it gives us some more information on Death Eater values and philosophy (insofar as they have any). Nice work; I thought this was good. A bit of a break between torture and agony is not such a bad thing sometimes :).

First, I am very happy to get a review from you, screamguy. I have noticed your work, "The Humanity in You, The Darkness in Me." I read some of it and you are an excellent, superb writer. Ironically, I was planning to review it, before you even reviewed this fic of mine. Within the next few days I promise I will!
Regarding this fic as a whole, I went to great lengths contemplating it and getting it as accurate as possible, etching out all my facts and inferences. It can be described as a train wreck...sounds like you know where I'm taking it....But Bella/Voldemort the conductors, if you will remain remarkably whole despite the wreck, which results from the events at the party for the coup.
Regarding Narcissa and Lucius, my opinion is that things went on differently behind closed doors because Lucius could drop his public image when in privacy. But much later, they will be fighting in this fic, and I will be showing Lucius to be a terribly flawed husband.
Now Arthur called Rodolphus Lestrange a "pimp", because of the context. Arthur was in a rage, he is not thinking straight...his daughter's life and well-being is at stake, she was nearly raped...naturally in the heat of this horrific, terrifying moment a father spits out whatever comes to mind.
And as for Bella being vain...she is certainly stuck up, like her sister Narcissa, and we know Bella used to be a looker, so it's possible for her to be vain, even though her looks are obscured from her time in Azkaban. Furthermore, I got the idea of Bella being vain, more from Helena Bonham Carter's movie protrayal. Bella's characters appeared sexy in a BDSM kind of way in that film to me.
And finally, it feels like it's happening in an alternative reality, simply because it is! It is happening somewhere and it is being even more fleshed and better than it is written here. It is most definitely happening somewhere in the universe. I believe in parallel universes. All fiction is as real as our world, just located somewhere else in infinity.

Well I really enjoyed your little fic, I hope you write more its a very .... disturbing perspective. You colour Voldemort immensly revolting, personally I think he wouldn't have time or be interested in sex but thats just my opinion.... Also how you depicted Lucius and Narcissa's relationship didn't seem very spot on, I guess I just can't imagine that prick being so ... loving to his wife, it just doesn't add up. But I really enjoyed how you described the take over and everything, believe it or not I was actually saddened when Scrimgeour was killed, he wasn't a bad guy really.... Also, I was wondering why you made Arthur call that Lestrange fellow a "Pimp" because it doesn't really make much sense, unless there's a hidden inuenndo or something? All in all it's good so far, the whole "Bella being vain thing" though doesn't seem like her, she's too insane to worry about what her hair looks like lol but that raping scene with her and Lucius well..... *laughs* thats definitely her. I'd say your fic is like observing a train wreck. A very precise, distubingly wrong, yet very realistic train wreck. In a good way though..... :) I could actually picture this happening in another reality somewhere....
