I find the relationship between Lily and James as odd as the one between Hermione and Ron. The women are both incredible (for their own reasons) and the men they end up with are not really what they need. How either of them could be happy with the foolish prats that are James Potter and Ron Weasley are beyond me!

Wow...this was beautiful.
After reading DH I was so sad Lily didn't end up with Severus... He loved her so much and understood her when hey were small.
