Gods! I feel so bad for Sirius, I almost cried with him! Maybe you could put that he and Severus fall in love with each other! (you know at some point in the story)That would be different and wonderful at the same time, that way Sirius doesn't have to hurt anymore and Severus doesn't have to be lonely any longer!
