Amusing (morbid I suppose) how Lucius suddenly walks in and tells her that her two best friends were already murdered. Pretty abrupt and taciturn of him.
And it was Lucius' spoiling-his-son that saved Hermione... sort of :)

I just wanted you to know that this is probably my favorite Draco/Hermione oneshot I've ever read. I love your writing and I've read all your stories. I really wish you would write some more. =]

Sigh, just re-read it and am hoping for that Epilogue...I hope they made a semblance of a life. She is the brightest witch of her age and extremely powerful. I would think after Voldemort won that he'd eventually recognize that. I think she and Draco would produce very very powerful children, which is what Voldemort would want in the long-term: magically strong children to build a strong wizarding society. Despite his denial, he knows he's a half-blood and I think part him respects Hermione's power. Anyway, sorry for the long as review.

"Draco felt a slight moment of guilt as he saw her crying... he would make it up to her later..." Well this is the moment he decided to keep her, isn't it.
I would love some more chapters building on this. An epilogue with a few years down the road would be so great. It's obvious from this initial piece that he's perhaps always wanted her (though maybe not enough to save her from her potential initial fate? or did he hope she'd escape?) and the fact that he protected her spoke volumes. When Draco doesn't need to deal with things first hand, he just pretends it didn't happen, didn't exist or is someone else's worry. However when faced with a situation like the one with Hermione his conscience comes into play.
I would encourage you to write a followup chapter if you have time. LOVE your Living in Darkness story - but prefer your revised ending.

beyond hot...yep, so Draco to keep what he first claimed. write an epilogue....hopefully one where she and he have a semblance of a life - I can totally see Voldemort letting Hermione live and be married to Draco - she's a very powerful witch (muggleborn or not) and would be his only exception. But she has to produce those magically powerful babies for him.

I loved it...and to confirm it, I want to ask you a very big favour: I'm an Italian fanwriter...I'd like to translate your fanfiction for an italian site, but I need your permission. I'm new of this site, so I haven't understood how to contact you by e-mail yet, because it's hidden, but I give you my address, so you can contact me, if you want your ff translated: mref.cat@gmail.com
hope to have your answer as soon as possible.
