just got through chaps 1-4, and I really like how you describe the atmosphere of Hogwarts with the kids chasing familiars and the din at dinnertime and the notes flying through the air. The plotline and emotions so far are good too.

I like how the Severus-Hermione interaction began because she was distraught over another distuation, and not because she or he happened to be crushing on one another. The Chap. 6 conversation made me teary-eyed, and the sex scene was very tender and sweet.
i love the alchemist on the tapestry, but why would she want to tell him that his efforts are for naught? Didn't Flamel create a Philosopher's Stone? Or did the money it create come from sonething other than lead?

A moving apothecary! :-)
I like the way you depict Mrs. Granger. Also, it's nice that Oliver Wood is only a reserve, instead of the Gryffindor players from Harry's years grabbing all the professional spots. The U.K. seems to have an awful lot of Quidditch teams and only one school. But still.)

Poor dead Snape. Wow, Hermione's brain is really addled--she hasn't asked about Lucius yet. Can't wait to see what you've got awaiting us in the next chapter.

To say that I am impressed, would be a gross understatement. Superbly written! And so far, extremely interesting. I have a long lost enthusiasm for HG/RL, so I hope that it may be rekindled slightly by continuing the story. I prefer to finish the story before posting a comment so that I might include my overall feelings, however, your style, grammar, and plot have compelled me to leave a note. Very Promising, indeed!
