Em, I waited until I'd read all the chapters before I reviewed, and then you went and left a cliffhanger! Great premise, and well-thought-out! Good execution and wonderful character profiles. There are some annoying grammar glitches: "manner" instead of "manor", and some others. I'd be happy to email you some corrections, if you'd like.
