While I absolutely adore your story, Thestrals cannot be seen unless the person has seen someone die. Therefore, it wouldn't make sense for Lilah to see the Thestrals and therefore hide from them. Theorectically, Hermione could see them, as she saw Ron die and maybe other during the war, but it wouldn't make sense for most people to see them.
