I'm sure others have already told you ... this is a great story. I was reading it at another website, but you're ahead with posting here;)
The use of the diaries is a fascinating way of giving all the backstory. Usually a lot of bouncing back and forth between this time and that which was, can be confusing. But this work extremely well.
So, I'm sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the next bit... come on .... any time now .... hurry up!

I am incredibly hooked on this story. Your writing is a skillful mixture of almost detached observation, understatement, innuendo, mystery, and romance. The structure of the story is wonderful! Your portrayal of the Professor remains totally within character. I am curious to see where this goes, as are we all.
