This chapter was brilliant and very moving, as always:) I feel that it is very easy to sympathize with Draco. I also look forward to your plans on a happy ending. It would be lovely if you would consider mailing me when the next chapter is up.

Aw, how sweet. Poor Draco. You're story just keeps getting better Ras, one of the best I've ever found from the Harry Potter genre. A plot that is attempted by others and usually screwed up. I look forward to reading chapter 5, honestly I'm hoping for Severus to confront Lucius. It's so sad that Draco feels so ashamed and can't see that he isn't at fault. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for another excellent chapter! I truly love this story and what you've done with the characters. Well, obviously I don't love Lucius Malfoy (if you won't disembowel him, would you consider flaying him alive?), but I'm fascinated by your take on his character. I still haven't figured out whether he is abusing his son in cold selfrighteousness because the boy disappoints his insane expectations, or if he has a sadistic streak that makes him look forward to Draco making a mistake so he can punish him, or if it's a little bit of both. He makes a very good villain, in any case.

Snape is all that Lucius should be, but never will. He is strict without cruelty, not only demanding but also encouraging in his role as teacher, and most of all, he shows Draco that he loves him unconditionally. I really like the way you write him - I know he can be a right b***d to the Gryffindors, but I've always thought he had a protective streak a mile wide towards his Slytherin and a soft spot for Draco in particular. Making him the boy's godfather is fitting.

It breaks my heart to see Draco still excusing his father's actions, still protecting him by keeping silent about the spy spell Lucius put on him earlier, but it would be unrealistic if he just shrugged off the brainwashing of years in a couple of weeks. You've captured his progress very well by showing that he is starting to realise that Lucius' punishment of him is excessive in the extreme. He's also beginning to trust his godfather not to hurt him for making mistakes, and it's lovely to see him (and his grades) blossoming under Snape's care. See, I've always thought Draco is one of those children who thrive on positive attention, and if they can't get it they settle for negative attention instead. Knowing Snape, he probably hasn't gone easy on Draco in his tutoring, but he hasn't been stingy with his praise either, and it's doing the boy a world of good.

Dear Lord. I try to write a short thank-you note for a well-written chapter, and end up with half an essay instead. Well, at least it shows you that I am engrossed in your story and very much looking forward to next chapter!

I like your story very much!

Draco's reaction to his father's brainwashing is so believable. I hope that Snape can help Draco to reevaluate his father's behaviour and name the deed by its real name - 'abuse'. Otherwise poor Draco will never be free from Lucius. *hugs Draco*

I like Snape here a lot, very grown up and caring. *hugs Snape* As was already pointed out by others: I, too, like that you don't slash Draco and Snape in this story. 'Sexual healing' after abuse doesn't work for me, especially not between an adult and a minor. It would simply be another form of abuse. (This is not an anti-slash comment! I like reading it in general. I only think the 'sex heals everything'-approach of many stories doesn't work too well.)

I'm really looking forward to the next chapter(s?). Thank you so much for sharing your story. *beams at you*

I just found your story and I have to tell you it is really amazing. I totally agree with Daisy Mae about the abuse thing and I must admit it is one of the best written stories about this Draco/Lucius abuse topic I have ever read. You do not overact it but make it very very realistic. The way you portray Draco's feelings about the abuse and his desperate fight to gain his father's love and affection...
I also love the portrayal of Severus Snape very much...and what I love best about the whole story is that Severus Snape's comfort and love for Draco is purely parental and in no way sexual as in most other stories.
Keep writing, you are brilliant.
