If the Potters bred with royal elves for senturies, how could James hide that fact? And more to the point, why would he? Seems silly.
The idea of Harry becoming some magical creature half breed is over-used by now. I hope you can put a good spin on it, but you started it in the most traditional way. So far - almost nothing new. Choosing an elf is new, but you should really make sure to use new ideas on what powers he is going to have, otherwise, elf or veela - little difference.
