I was mugged at gunpoint. I wasn\'t hurt and they told me I should be grateful. It didn\'t keep me from staying up until I couldn\'t stay awake any more. It doesn\'t keep me from being more cautious or looking over my shoulder at odd times. It does get better. You do feel safer, eventually, but you won\'t forget and you won\'t be the same. You think more; you\'ll look at people more. My best advise. Shut everything down that can access accounts, put an alert in all three major credit companies so they won\'t take out loans or credit cards in your name. Let your family pamper you. Take a defense course. Not for the defense of you, when they have a weapon or even if you don\'t see one the best thing is give them what they want. do it because it will make you feel better. It helped me. Feel better.

I just don\'t think the police care, when you aren\'t hurt.

For example, my brother had a gang of kids trying to corner him and his mate, but they managed to escape after throwing a few punches, but the gang was still after them. A few streets away they called the police from a phone box, and they said \"Stay where you are, we should be there within the hour.\"

Within the bloody hour! Well my brother using his head - for once - didn\'t stay longer than 15 minutes, and even that I think was pushing it, but no sign of any police. So he came home and called them up using the local number to tell them that he had come home. He was told that they were short staffed and nobody had even been given the job of going to check it out....this was an hour and half after the first call was made!!!!

It then took over a week before anyone came to take a statement, and then a month before they came to do one of those drawing things to see if they could get the ID of the gangs....how the hell is my brother meant to remember what a whole gang looks like after more than a month!!!!

*sigh* I really did get excited when I thought there was a new chapter up.... but never mind, your welfa eis important. Just remember though, by not moving on with your life - you are letting them win!!!!

And I am not just saying that to get a new chapter out of you, I am saying this because I am concerned about how you are going to cope with this.

A big hug for comfort, and I hope we hear from you soon.

That\'s so scary! Don\'t feel badly about taking a break from this. I think everyone here can understand that you need to need to take some time away with your family and calm those nerves. I\'m so glad you were able to come away from this physically unhurt.
