Just finished reading about the first year - the year when, as you so rightly say, the Slytherins were unjustly robbed of the House Cup, grr. I like to read Harry Potter stories that follow canon but feature HP himself only peripherally, and always like a bit of shading in of the minor characters. I liked Luna at Christmas, and I'm looking forward to a Padma/Penelope/David love triangle, and some hot Snape action would be nice...but I can always use my imagination to factor that in ;).
(I'm still all *phew* over my lucky escape from the Lucius caning re-enactment).

i have to say i\'m really enjoying this story. i like the different perspective for the harry potter years and the recorded events. i always like reading about the lesser used students, so seeing padma and terry and your take on penelope was nice. having ron and luna and hermione in the story was a great touch too. however, although your story is quite good there are a couple things that aren\'t so good. firstly, david using his magic outside hogwarts. we know that is a no no from harry\'s experiences. he got in trouble for dobby\'s magic use in book two and then the dementor attack in five. so david shouldn\'t be able to use his magic at home or anywhere else. tsk tsk on you. and secondly, you made david stronger than harry. what\'s up with that??? i forgave the famous part, but i can\'t forgive the more powerful part. it goes against the jkr\'s world. keep those kind of things to a minimum please. but with that said, i do look forward to more.

While this story does have an interesting concept, it would have been more interesting if David was just a regular student and not the son of someone famous/well known person. In some ways, because other charectors recognize him as easily as they do Harry (not to mention that in the first chapter, some actually say that they would prefer to hang out with him instead of Harry plus the run in with Draco) it takes away from the actually from the quality of the charactor because he does have the Mary-Sue after taste to him.

(this comment will be placed in an A/N for the next chapter, once I\'ve written it)
Patrice, thanks for your comments. I would respond by saying that:
a. All OC stories have an element of mary sue in them. Even stuff that\'s published.
b. OTOH, in the Wizarding world, there aren\'t THAT many people. At least, I assume not. So if someone does something well-known, they\'re known of. *shrug* It made sense to me at the time. I suppose going from a more \"normal\" tack would\'ve worked well as well, but I wouldn\'t have had as much of an excuse to give David the kind of backstory he has.
At least it\'s only an \"aftertaste\"... I\'d be really unhappy if it was a \"bouquet of flavor\". :)

So far, I\'m absolutely loving your story; I\'m sure the same will be the case for its remainder! Having read so many fics based on the Gryffindor, Ginny/Malfoy, and Marauders, it\'s really refreshing to be given the opportunity to view Hogwarts from another student\'s, in another house, perspective. Like the previous reviewer, I was also curious about what David\'s father had been doing over the summer, not to mention how things will pan out with Padma, Fiona, the Yule Ball, and so much more. Some of the Third Year chapters (Qudditch! Time! Head!) were exceptionally sweet treats, so please keep updating!

i really like this story. there are a few things i\'m confused about, though. first of all, what was david\'s father doing over the summer when he apparated into the living room completely worn out. i\'ve read the harry potter books, but i don\'t remember anything happening over that summer that would cause mr. goldman to be so worn-out like that, unless you\'re referring to the incident with aunt marge. also, i thought david had flushed the pocketwatch down the toilet after finding out that fiona was a succubus. so why did he still have it later on?
still, this is a great story. the different point of view is excellent and a rather nice change from all the harry-centered fanfics out there. i can\'t wait for the next chapter!
