best lines:
"Was it?" Harry spat angrily at the Headmaster, his green eyes flashing. "Because of our cowerdice, Hermione is probably dead."
"Listen here boy." he growled, "We've no time for your moral good tidings. Either you want your know-it-all friend to survive, or you want to play the hero of the day and have her killed. Your choice."
Snape's eyes darkened if possible, and a flurry of emotions rose up within him. The once so trusting and kind Albus Dumbledore was now boldfaced accusing him of being in on the attack. He felt anger, guilt and a bit of offhanded hurt at the old man's accusations.
"I almost killed 'em...'Arry...Ron...and probably 'Ermione.." he sobbed loudly, and Snape gritted his teeth. "I killed 'er. My lil Hermione...always tryin' to help."
(I like the way Snape is the only sensible person around. Ron is incompetent, Harry is a egomaniacal naive delusional hero, Hermione is a fool for keeping them around as friends, Minerva is an ignorant old woman, and Albus never really trusts Severus when push comes to shove.)
He had resignedly decided to as usual, do the right thing. No words could express his disdain or guilt from merely having once been attached the feared group.

please in chapter five it is Transpire, not conspire. Transpire means to happen. Events transpire: as in "what transpired here tonight." People conspire, they plot and plan together.
By he way, I think your Snape is very much in character so far. He is, acording to JKR, not a nice man at all.

I have really enjoyed reading it and look forward to more. Snape was a right bastard at the start and I was happy to see him finally see Hermione's pain and in turn open his heart a little. Funny how once the door cracks open and lets in the tiniest sliver of light, the entire room that was once ensconced in darkness is visible. Well done. Dumbledore's death rattled me and I want revenge!! You can't just leave me hanging, with 3 teenagers on a kamikaze (sure as hell seems that way!) mission and not knowing what's to come of Snape, whether or not he's going to be forced to hurt the woman he finally realized and admitted to loving, and of course, how the defeat of that ugly snake bastard will come about! Or if it will at all! (I don't care if it's a happy or sad ending, so long as there is a good one!)
Thanks for sharing! Hopefully you'll grace us with more of your creative brilliance - I WANT MORE!
