Wow. And somehow I\'d always pictured Filch as revolting.
For some reason, it was hard for me to keep Snape in my mind while I was reading this, making him always turn into someone else, but it was really a very good and compelling story... Right on!

Delphi,
This is great. Beautiful pacing -- it drew me right through without a pause. I found your younger, private Filch quite belivable. I think I might have made young Snape a bit more hidden, less open about his wishes or needs. For instance, when he says, I thinks it is \"I wanted you to,\" I would have liked that to be the first thing he openly says about what they are doing. It isn\'t out of character for the Snape you\'ve drawn here, but perhaps for the canon Snape, to be so open about motive.
Poor little guy. It did my heart good to see him receive some kindness.

I\'m very glad you liked the story anyway, even if the characterization quibbled for you :-) Personally, I see a younger Snape in canon not being quite so hardened as the miserable bastard we all know and love today (at fifteen I would imagine him as still more angsty than jaded) - all we\'ve seen of him in text is around James Potter et al, which isn\'t necessarily a lot to go on, especially when it comes to how he relates to adults (his concentration on his OWLs gives the impression that he\'s not likely to be such a hard case to the staff.) But anyway...what we did see in OotP was enough to make me want to give the poor lad *someone* to look after him. *grin*
