beautiful story, just as 10 years after. Loved every moment, especially the incorporation of the Old Ways. Beautifully written. Thanks for sharing!

“A book and a cuppa?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Well, I couldn’t very well say ‘gee Albus, I don’t think I’ll go back to the party because your Potions Master was playing with my nipples earlier and all I want to do is get naked so he can get back t and and we can spend the rest of the night shagging like bunnies in the springtime’ now, could I?”

“All this time, I thought you hated me when I was a child.”
“Yere ere profoundly irritating. Not unlike a grain of sand in an oyster. But eventually, that irritation becomes something beautiful,” stated Severus, kissing a nipple.
“Thank you ever so much for comparing me to calcium carbonate built up as a protection from an irritant,” she said, pulling his head closer to her breasts, “now, please suck a little harder.”

“Hermione’s Cinnamon Rose. Bred 1998 by Severus Snape. In honor of a young woman of enormous talent and courage under fire. May she succeed where others have failed…even though she is an annoying know-it-all and I welcome the peace her departure will bring.”

Have you ever tried to break or cut the stems of the cinnamon rose?”
“No, I haven’t,” said Hermione.
“It’s virtually impossible. Only magic can cut the stems, and only once. Once the stem is cut, it will not allow itself to be cut a second time. That reminded me of you. Once you were wounded, you would not permit them to hurt you a second time. You became stronger.

You were the hope of your generation, not Potter. You were MY hope. The hope that your brilliance would survive and shine on, ushering a new millennium for the wizarding world. You were the underrated one. The forgotten one.

I mean, you and Severus have loads in common. You both know and love the same subjects – potions, magic, literature, music…but Remus and I…what do WE have in common?”
“You’ll never know until you spend some time together,” stated Hermione, “how do you feel about him?”
“Intrigued,” admitted Ginny, picking up a simple robe and tossing it back down, dismissing it as “boring”, “he’s very nice looking. And he’s been though so much. There’s a lot of depth too him. Oh Hermione,” she wailed, throwing herself dramatically on the sofa, “I am so in over my head.”

“I ended up on my back on a pool table in a pub in New York discovering that his tongue has more uses than merely snipping out sarcastic barbs,”

“I’m just not sure how to behave around Miss Weasley.”
“Try not howling, snuffling, or barking.”

“Why do I come to you for advice?” asked Remus, shaking his head.
“Because the only other options are Albus or Hagrid?”
“That would be it,” agreed Remus.

“Hermione, how old ARE you?” she said out loud, “Doodling ‘Hermione Snape’ on a parchment?”

“I wronged you, Hermione. I wronged you by not listening to you, by not accepting that you are a grown woman with her own mind, by hurting your feelings again and again.”
“Yes,” said Hermione, turning around to face Ron, “you did. als also wronged Severus, belittled your sister and her choices, lied to all of us, and did nothing to help Remus

“Yes. And she wants nothing to do with me until I make amends as well. Shit, Hermione, right now, I want nothing to do with me until I at least attempt to clear my slate.”
“There’s not an eraser big enough,” said Hermione, casting a glare at Ron, “you lied. And you called me a whore because of whom I chose to love and because I didn’t live up to your expectations.”

she refused to allow herself any blame in the matter.

Once they stopped thinking of their outing as a date, it became less tense and much more relaxing. Ginny found herself truly enjoying the company of Remus, and Remus found himself captivated by the pretty redhead.

“sixteen year old Ginny settled for what she could get. This Ginny doesn’t settle.”

“As I understand, in the Christian hell, once you’re there, that’s it. You’re there for eternity.”
“Of course you are,” said Hermione, gently placing a bookmark in her book and closing it.
“Then what do you learn?” asked Severus.
“You learn that you can’t do evil deeds.”
“And once you learn and accept that? What happens then? You’re condemned to torture even after you’ve learned. That hardly seems fair. Eternity is quite a long time, my dear.”

“Miss Brandywine,” he said, shooting a withering look at a pretty 7th year Ravenclaw, “that will be 50 points from Ravenclaw and the next word I hear about the blasted Halloween Dance will equal detention with Filch. Tonight. Am I clear?”

“Of course it is not Dark Magic, Mr. Yearwood,” said Severus, “it is far older than the dark or the light. It simply is.”

“Mick Jagger is a wizard?” asked Hermione.
“Yes, although he dabbled a bit too much in the Dark Arts back in the 1970’s,”

“You have to dispense of your hatred for Voldemort,” he said quietly, “otherwise you cannot cross.”

“I am harboring a whole new batch of serious dislike right now.”
“As am I,” agreed Hermione, “I can’t believe that I used to have such respect for him.”

“Even if I don’t see my parents, to know that they will spend eternity in a place like this makes my heart full. And because of you, I know what the Summerland is like. I love you so much, Severus Snape.”

“You were the first,” said Emma Granger, resting her small hand over Severus’, “the first to cry for us. We saw. We saw you running down the street towards our house, pulling off your mask as you approached. We saw you look into the sky at that horrid green sigil. We saw you drop to your knees. We heard you scream the word ‘no’ until your voice was hoarse. And we saw the tears. We didn’t know who you were, not until we were ensconced here and were able to see Hermione. That was when we realized who the man who wept for us was. Tell me Severus, were you weeping for Hermione as well?”

I still like Harry and wish him nothing but the best, but he wasn’t right for Hermione, and Hermione wasn’t meant to be a trophy wife.”

Hermione looked around at the sound of Trevor’s voice and smiled broadly. She jumped to her feet, and letting out a whoop of pure happiness, ran to her father’s arms.
“Daddy!” she cried, “I’ve missed you and mum so much.”

(Ron's soul, is it? He ever had one?)
