On the subject of it being \"too late\" -- it would presumably be too late, at this point, for her to abort the pregnancy via some kind of potion (the \"abortion pill\" only works for the first two months of pregnancy), but a D&E (dilation and evacuation) is a relatively simple procedure (about 15-20 minutes). If performed within the first 20 weeks, it has a lower risk of complications and side effects than actually giving birth does. It can be performed even into the third trimester, although it usually isn\'t unless there\'s a significant health risk involved in continuing the pregnancy. U.K. law states that abortion is legal before the 24th week, and may be performed after the 24th week if continuing the pregnancy would significantly endanger or damage the woman\'s physical or mental health, or if the child has a significant genetic defect. (This is true for the whole U.K. except Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, and Jersey, where the rules are different.)

Just thought I\'d let you know.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!! Sometimes tact isn\'t the best method & Poppy should have been a little more forceful in explaining why her making a choice quickly was so important, bad Poppy!!! I really LOVE Severus, so firm & forceful, what a man!!! I can only hope that he will bring Hermione into his life & heart on a different level soon, she needs him more than ever now!!! Can\'t wait for chapter 20!!! Deb >^..^<

What a fabulous chapter that was. I definitely didnt see that coming. A very well written and convincing account of the aftermath I thought.

And now I have no idea how it will all end. Which is good. I like surprises.

I can see why she asked for Snape. And I can see why she d bed be so angry. I can\'t imagine just figuring out that everyone knew and just didn\'t say anything obvious. (And I was in maternity clothes at six bloody weeks with this pregnancy! It\'s my third)

Interesting. Very interesting.

A thought on the problem of the Incredible Delocalized Ron Weasley -- Chapter 1, being Snape\'s POV, just refers to him as \"Weasley.\" It would be a very quick edit to go back and fill in \"Fred\" or \"Charlie\" or whatever, so that Ron is at Hogwarts but his brothers are on the battlefield.

Your take on the desire, post-trauma, to be treated \"the same as before,\" is a good one. It\'s actually one of the reasons that many rape survivors don\'t tell, or don\'t tell those near and dear to them. They have too much to deal with already, and having to deal with other people\'s reactions can just be impossible.

Based on the bits of Hermione POV we\'ve seen thus far -- is she actually aware that she\'s pregnant? The bit about her balance being off when she got out of bed in the infirmary, and her thoughts about there being scars from the torture but no visible sign of the rape, made me wonder. Granted, we haven\'t had much of her POV, but in what we have seen she doesn\'t appear to think about it, even in the \"I don\'t want to think about that now\" sense. (After all, being 3 or 4 months pregnant would change her center of balance a little, and a visible sign wouldn\'t be that far off -- but those things don\'t seem to occur to her. Is she in that much denial?)

It\'s nice to see that someone has the ability to surprise Snape aco aco & Ron seem to have done just that by working on the report*
